About the Department
Genesis

Department of Logistics Management was established in the academic Year 2016-17, a pioneering initiative by the University Administration carving it out from AIM focusing exclusively on Logistics and Supply Chain Domain knowledge. This is the first of its kind initiative among the State Universities in the Indian higher education map.

This is a young, vibrant entity established at Alagappa University. Logistics Management is getting professionalized of late, which is evident from the fact that this MBA (Logistics Management) Programme is sanctioned to Alagappa University as an Innovative Programme during 2012 with liberal funding by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and recent thrust focused by Government of India by unveiling National Logistics Policy 2023.

Gaining Global perspective through international immersion and extensive industry engagement, the department is striving hard to position itself as a thought leader in the National and International Logistics and Supply Chain Management space.

The faculty members have different domain expertise, industry-academia enriched, nationally and internationally experienced professionals. Common infrastructural facilities at the command of the department are envious: Video conferencing facility, Wi-Fi environment, Networked Computer Laboratory, well stacked Library; Conference halls are few notable features.

The Department offers industry-focused MBA (Logistics and Supply Chain Management), M.Phil in Management – Specializing in Logistics and Supply Chain Management and Ph.D. in Management - Specializing in Logistics Management.

Core Competency of Department of Logistics Management (DoLM)
  1. The curriculum focusing on industrial needs has been designed during the year 2022 incorporating new courses in the fields of Logistics and Supply Chain Management such as Multimodal Transport System, Retailing Industry Logistics and Modern Logistics Operations Management, Agro Supply Chain, Sustainable Supply Chain and Port Operations.
  2. Summer Placement (on the job) Programme in Logistics Industry for 2 months.
  3. Special focus on Soft Skill Development, Business Analytics and Event Management.
  4. Opportunity to participate and Interact with Academic and Industry Professionals during International and National Conferences, Seminars and Workshops.
  5. Rigorous training for facing Competitive Examinations.
  6. Placement focused Programme and Entrepreneurial counselling through mentoring.
  7. Enhancing employability skills of the students through Executive Empowerment Programmes offered in all semesters.
  8. International MoU with SUN LOGISTIC SERVICES Muscat, Oman which facilitates our students for Project and Final Placement.
  9. International MoU with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia is in place for joint research and Academic Collaboration.

  1. MBA (Logistics and Supply Chain Management) – 2 years (4 Semesters) (Regular mode from 2022-23 Academic Year onwards)
Eligibility for Admission
  1. Any degree from a recognized University in the 10+2+3 pattern or equivalent.
  2. Selection of Candidates: The selection of candidates shall be made on the basis of the performance in Entrance Exam, Group Discussion & Interview.
  3. Intake: The total number of candidates admitted to the programme is 60 (Sixty) only.

Facilities

The state-of-the-art facilities, and extremely proficient staff members, brands the DoLM a wonderful place to be, for those aspiring for a career in Logistics management.

Class Rooms

The classrooms are equipped with smart board, computers with internet and LCD projectors to facilitate teaching and learning. The academic events are supported efficiently through bulletin boards and debate forums.

Computer Centre

The computer centre having nearly 60 systems with 24x7 internet facility. The computer lab also has a dedicated System Programmer and help desk for competitive exam preparation such as Bank exams, Civil services exams & etc. Printing facility, Photocopying and scanning facilities are also available. The students of DoLM can also make use of Wi-Fi which is enabled throughout the campus with dedicate bandwidth for internet connectivity.

Library

The School of Management Library, which was established within the Faculty of Management campus to facilitate the readers an easy access to the latest collection of Books and Journals. This is in addition to the existing Central Library located in the Administrative campus. Around 20,000 plus books are available for the benefit of the students of Logistics Management at both these libraries. Internet service, CD-ROM Databases and e-services are provided by the library for its users. The department also subscribes to 30 plus national and international magazines.

Conference Halls

Conference Halls with varied capacities – 800, 550, 300 and 200 seats, built-in with full-fledged Digital Smart Board, Video Conferencing system, Projector, Electronic Podium, Public address system and LCD Projector are available for organizing seminars, guest lectures and meetings.

Industrial houses are striving to understand and implement the various types of Logistics and Supply Chain management which is crucial for businesses to ensure streamlined operations and customer satisfaction. Companies can optimize their supply chain processes and achieve higher profitability through effective inbound logistics, outbound logistics, reverse logistics, and third-party logistics. By utilizing modern technologies and efficient inventory management systems, businesses can enhance their logistical capabilities and meet evolving customer demands.
