Alagappa University was brought into existence by a special Act of the Government of Tamil Nadu in May 1985 with two constituent colleges and post graduate departments.
Alagappa University became affiliated by the Tamil Nadu Act 35 of 2002 with 21 Arts, Science and Commerce colleges and 3 institutes, situated in the most backward remote rural areas of Ramnad and Sivaganga districts of TamilNadu.( G.O.ms NO. 288 and 289, Higher Education (K2) Dept.dt.16.10.2002 and Govt.St NO.12323/K2/2003-1dt.02.06.2003
Vision- Constructing efforts on attaining 2(f) and 12 (b) Status to colleges addressing norms prescribed and march towards NAAC accreditation.
- Developing synergism, relevance and quality in education through curricular and Co-curricular activities towards ensuring cutting edge knowledge to students.
- Consolidating efforts on academic enrichment and grants mobilising from UGC and other funding agencies for college development.
- Designing and re-engineering Curricular contents.
- Initiating attempt towards up gradation of infrastructure facilities.
- Stimulating optimisation and integration of modern methods towards academic enrichment.
- Nurturing quality related researches / project culture in colleges.
- Encouraging capacity building programmes through curricular and Co-curricular activities.
- Facilitating efficient and progressive functioning of administrative and financial tasks.
- Enriching healthy practices and continuous improvement in entire operations towards par excellence.
- Constituting and Reconstituting Board meeting for UG/PG
- Involving adjunct professors and practicing personalities in the Board
- Obtaining suggestions for re-engineering curriculum meeting Emphasizing thrust on promoting job-oriented programmes and skill
- Facilitating colleges on the advantages for obtaining
- Encouraging colleges to apply for grants for infrastructure up gradation
- Envisaging opportunities to avail building grants from developmental assistances from MLA and M.P
- Orienting on use of teaching technology
- Providing quality education by streamlining and Co-ordinating institutional components
- Motivating students to use available library resources and other services
- Motivation programmes to avail special schemes / grants from UGC exclusively meant for college development
- Initiating programmes on project formulations
- Orientation programmes on submitting research projects on Rural Development and extension activities come under PURA
- Inculcating practice of participating seminars at National / International level
- Encouraging research supervisors and researchers to apply for projects to various agencies
- Motivational programmes to publish more research papers in National / International conference
- Up gradation to Research Centre
- Intensive sectional programme for developing communication skill
- Periodical refreshing on personality development
- Emphasizing efforts on remedial coaching
- Arranging opportunity fair / Job fair to fresher / and Alumnees
- Orientation on Co-curricular and sports activities
- Activating EDC and placement cell to bridge the gap in employment market
- Arranging Brain - storming / quiz programmes
- Ensuring scaffolding method of filing system
- Creating paperless administration with affiliated colleges
- Adopting fast-track arrangement in file processing
- Confirmation receipts of fees dues with colleges
- Stimulating quality consciousness in work culture
- Maintaining care taking on evening colleges
- Arranging periodical meeting with principals (feed back session)
- Periodical analysis on performance radar
- Obtaining appraisals from staff and students on quality functioning
