Genesis
The Department of Computational Logistics traces its roots back to the Computer Centre of Alagappa University, which was established in the year 1989. Initially the Computer Centre was serving as a centralized computing facility on the University campus. The Centre became a pioneer in offering Distance Learning Programmes such as Diploma and Post-Graduate Diploma Courses in Computer Applications. The Computer Centre was upgraded into a full-fledged Department of Computational Logistics in 2018, and started offering M. Sc. (I.T) Programme to cater to the needs of rural students of this region. Besides, the department oversees the ICT- related installation works, undertakes maintenance and repair works of optical fiber network, CCTV, Computers, Printers etc., on the University campus. Technical staff of department are employed in the maintenance of Internet Control Room and ICT -related works in all the academic departments and administrative blocks. Technical assistance is provided for all the Departments for conducting International Conferences, Seminars and Video Conferences and Online Meetings. The department is entrusted with the work of overseeing optical networks in 48 buildings spread over the entire campus.

- The lab has 25 Intel i3 desktop computers with Windows 10 64 Bit operating system. All the computers are connected with high-speed internet connectivity.

- 100 MBPS Internet Leased Line (1:1) Link is provided by the BSNL.
- 1 GBPS Internet Leased Line (1:1) and Network Connectivity has been provided under NMEICT Project.
- Wi-Fi User Authentication is done by Tacitine HS5200 Hotspot.

The faculty of Computational Logistics undertakes an active role in conducting research in different fields of Computer Science. It aims to help researchers to find new techniques with advanced technologies which add value and address societal and industrial needs. The thrust areas of the research include image processing, video processing, artificial intelligence, machine learning and related applications. Besides, the research area extends to image enhancement, image classification, image denoising, parallel sorting algorithm, social media analysis and deep learning.
